Aims for the course are laid out below:

Correctly stripping various cross-sectional areas of multi-stranded cables:

  • Small cable lugs 10 / 16-mm cable.
  • Correctly crimping larger cross-section areas of cable.
  • Solar cable.

Selecting the correct crimping tool:

  • Uninsulated and insulated terminals.
  • Cable ferrules.
  • Uninsulated ferrules.
  • Insulated Ferrules.
  • Double ferrules.

How to wire an AC distribution unit correctly:

  • Selecting the correct type of consumer units.
  • The correct AC protection which you should provide.
  • Installation of protection devices.
  • The use of glands.
  • Correctly stripping three-core multi-stranded cable.
  • Termination of three core cables.
  • Cable identification.

Using Ideal and Wago lever connectors correctly:

  • Enabling the quick and easy joining of two or more pieces of electrical wire.

DC circuit design:

  • Batteries and re-charging.
  • Batteries to DC distribution.
  • DC distribution to individual circuits.
  • Cable identification.

AC testing devices:

  • The practical use of electrical systems testing.
  • Recording electrical test results for inclusion in the owner’s manuals.
