About Keith Meadowcroft

Keith at Volt Master Training has been working in the electrical engineering industry for 54 years of which the last 40 has been in the marine industry specifically.

He is also vice chairman of the BMEEA and as such is not only familiar with the standards, he helps set the standards and is heaviliy involved in researching and writing the code of practice.

What inspired Keith?

At the age of 15 Keith was presented with 3 career options:

  • Paramedic
  • Fire Fighter
  • Telephone exhange maintenance at the general post office

His mother was keen for him to take up a career in banking however as any typical teenager, he followed his friends and took the role for the GPO. This was a very fortunate decision as it set him on a course that would inspire a lifetime career.

How did this lead to the marine industry?

After 14 years at the GPO Keith bought a boat yard in the eighties where he quickly identified that there was a serious lack of skills and standards in the boating industry, very quickly set to work making this right.

This lead to a 40 year career in desigining and installing electrical systems and then moved into and training and consulting.

Keith has dedicated his life to making the marine electrical industry a safer place.
